            b 1750's; d 1836 Grayson Co, Va.
            m Isabel (Granny Izzy) ____, b 1750's, d 1845.  They were suposedly marr in Buncombe Co, NC, and tradition is that she was an
                indentured servant whom Robert "stole" in NC and brought back to Va.  The story goes on to say that her master came to Gray-
                son Co looking for her, and when he found that she was married with children, stayed for supper and the night, and returned to
                NC without her.  It has also been claimed that her last name was Spencer, but no evidence given, so this may be mere speculation
                based on son Spencer's name.

            1777 Pittsylvania Co, Va, Wm Witcher's list, Robert took oath of allegiance.
            1779 Pittsylavania Co: Robert was adm of his father's will, and inherited 1/2 of the land.
            1780, 17 Oct: Pittsylvania Co Deed Bk 6, p 10: Robert Goad sold 100 acres on Frying Pan Creek (the part of his land obtained
                      from his father Abraham) to Jeremiah Ward.
            1781 Pittsylvania Co tax list: Robert Goad.
            1781, Aug: Pittsylvania Co: "Ro" Goad assessed 11 lbs for furnishing clothes and beef for the army.
            By 1784 Robert moved to Big Reed Island Creek in the portion of Montgomery Co that is in present day eastern Carroll Co.  He
                   purchased land from John Cock, although the record has not been found.
            1786 Montgomery Co Entry Bk B, p 351: Robert Goad, 49 acres on Big Reed Island.
            1787 Montgomery Co tax list, Robert Goad, 3 horses, 11 cattle.
            1788 Montgomery Co tax list C, 28 Aug, Robert Goad, no white males 16-21, no slaves, 3 horses.
            1789 Montgomery Co tax list C, 21 Aug, Robert Goad, no white males 16-21, no slaves, 4 horses, living on Big Reed Island, Pine,
                     and Snake Creek, Buckhorn.
            1792, 1 Nov: Pittsylvania Co Deed Bk 9, p 544: Robert Goad of "Wythe Co" deeded remaining 80 acres to Jacob Hedrick, "being
                      land got from father Abraham Goad by heirship on Frying Pan Creek".  (This document establishes that Robert Goad of
                      Grayson Co was the s/o Abraham of Pittsylvania Co.)

            1807, 24 Nov: Grayson Co Court Order Bk: Robert Goad was sumoned as a garnshee, saith he has nothing in his hands the prop-
                      erty of the Robert Stubblefield, defendant.
            1809, 19 Apr: Grayson Co Deed Bk 2, p 456: Robert Goad to Aaron Goad, 150 acres, Big Reed Island Creek, surveyed 7 Dec
                      1782.

            1815 Grayson Co pers prop tax list, 11 Mar: Robert Goard, 1 WM>16, 3  horses etc, 12 cattle, tax $.99.

            1826 Grayson Co, Rbt Goad obtained 60 acres on Big Reed Island Creek.

            1836, Mar: Grayson Co Will Bk 1, p 462: Robert Goad Sr's will (dated 18 Jan 1836) was prov, listing wife Isbell, son Spencer to
                      have the home place, dau Sarah and her husband (James A. Webb) to have the land over the river, son Aaron Goad, dau
                      Mary and her husband William Nester.
            1836 Grayson Co Will Bk 1, p 493: Robert's estate appr at $65.57.
